Call for Proposal: Initiatives to Counteract Irregular Migration | Calls for proposal

Deadline: The call is open from 30 June 2026 at 12:00 CEST until 31 July 2026 at 12:00 CEST. - Target Audience: Existing and new Sida partners, with strong encouragement for new partners, working on projects and programmes in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Syria, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as along the Central Mediterranean and Eastern Mediterranean routes. Opportunity Summary: Through this call, Sida seeks projects and programmes that achieve results in the countries and routes identified in Sweden’s Strategy for Global Development Cooperation on Migration, Returns and Voluntary Repatriation 2024–2028. The call aims to counteract irregular migration by supporting partners to strengthen asylum and migration management, including border controls, while taking coordination with EU instruments and other Member States into account. Priority Areas:
  • Strengthening asylum and migration management through institutional capacity-building.
  • Strengthening border management.
  • Counteracting migrant smuggling.
Important Notes:
  • Sida particularly welcomes proposals that demonstrate innovative working methods and approaches.
  • Applications from new partners are especially encouraged.
  • All applications will be evaluated according to established internal criteria.
  • Up to five organisations are expected to be selected for further cooperation.

  • Organisations must answer a questionnaire regarding Sida’s basic eligibility requirements.
  • Then submit a project proposal via the portal.
