zivik Funding Programme: Civil Conflict Resolution – ifa

Deadline: Applications should be submitted as early as possible, ideally no later than 3 months before the project start. For projects beginning in January or February, it is recommended to submit the project outline in June/July of the previous year and the full application by 1 October of the previous year. - Target Audience: State-registered NGOs and local organisations working in crisis and conflict regions, especially projects focused on crisis prevention, conflict management, stabilisation, peacebuilding, and democracy-building. Opportunity Summary: The zivik Funding Programme supports civil society actors worldwide in preventing crises and overcoming conflicts. It contributes to creating and stabilising peaceful social and political systems, and also provides advice, networking opportunities, and support for project evaluation. Priority Regions:
  • Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • The Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region.
  • Southeastern Europe.
  • Ukraine and Belarus.
  • The South Caucasus.
  • Projects by the Unidas Women’s Network in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • In exceptional cases, projects from other regions may also be accepted.
Supported Fields:
  • Crisis prevention.
  • Conflict management.
  • Stabilisation.
  • Peacebuilding.
  • Democracy-building.
Key Requirements:
  • The project must align with one of the Federal Foreign Office funding concepts.
  • The organisation must be familiar with the “Monitoring of effects (movie)” manual and use it for planning, review and evaluation.
  • The organisation must comply with project funding principles under the German Federal Budget Code.
  • Required documents include state registration, orderly management, and a bank account for international transfers in the organisation’s name.
  • The organisation must have rules on protection against sexual exploitation and abuse, corruption prevention, terrorism financing prevention, and ethical compliance.
  • The organisation must be able to confirm that it does not finance terrorist activities, is not a terrorist organisation, and complies with UN and EU sanctions.
How to Apply:
  • Step 1: Check whether all requirements have been met.
  • Step 2: Submit a project outline and receive a consultation from the zivik team.
  • Step 3: Submit the full application.
  • A project outline must be submitted in advance, allowing enough time for consultation before the final application.
  • For projects starting in January or February, the outline is recommended in June/July of the previous year.
  • The full application should be submitted no later than 3 months before the project start.
  • For projects in Israel/the Palestinian Territories, the outline must be submitted by the end of July of the previous year.
  • For projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, the outline must also be submitted by the end of July of the previous year.
After Applying:
  • An acknowledgment of receipt is sent after submission.
  • Additional information is often requested.
  • A letter of acceptance or rejection is issued later.
  • The review and decision process usually takes several weeks.
  • If successful, follow-up funding may be available for up to 3 years.
