Youth for Peace: UNESCO Intercultural Leadership Programme – Second Edition (2026)
Deadline: 19 July 2026, 23:59 CET (Paris time). Target Audience: Emerging leaders aged 25–45 (as of 22 October 2026) with a proven track record of leadership, strong commitment to intercultural dialogue, inclusion and social impact, and availability to participate fully in all programme components. 2026 Theme: Human Connection and Dialogue in the Age of Artificial Intelligence – exploring how AI is reshaping intercultural relations and social cohesion, and how it can be leveraged to foster understanding, participation, and cultural preservation. Opportunity Summary: Youth for Peace is UNESCO’s flagship programme for intercultural leadership, supporting a new generation of leaders to drive social cohesion and peace through dialogue. The journey combines immersive leadership development, mentorship, seed-funded community action, and engagement in global policy conversations. Leadership Journey – Key Phases:- Phase 1 – Strengthen your leadership practice: Interactive online training on intercultural leadership, strategic communication, mediation and conflict transformation, foresight and adaptive leadership, technology and AI as tools for dialogue, and designing dialogue-based initiatives for impact.
- Phase 2 – Lead an intercultural action initiative: Participants design and implement a dialogue-based initiative aligned with the 2026 theme, at local or national level, within six months.
- Phase 3 – Amplify impact and influence global conversations: Present outcomes at the UNESCO Global Youth Dialogue for Peace, join the Global Alumni Network, and contribute insights to UNESCO’s policy and knowledge platforms.
- Seed funding: USD 10,000 per approved intercultural action initiative.
- Continuous mentorship, learning opportunities, and peer support during implementation.
- Membership in the Youth for Peace Global Alumni Network with ongoing collaboration and advocacy opportunities.
- 25–45 years old (as of 22 October 2026).
- Demonstrated record of leadership in their field.
- Commitment to intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and positive social change.
- Openness to self-reflection, dialogue across differences, and collaborative learning.
- Potential to influence and create positive change in their communities.
- Availability to participate fully in all programme components.
- By 19 July 2026: Application submission deadline.
- Oct – Dec 2026: Preparatory training programme; action plans finalised.
- Jan – Jul 2027: Seed funding disbursed; implementation of initiatives with ongoing mentorship.
- August 2027: Final reports submitted.
- Q3 – Q4 2027: UNESCO Global Youth Dialogue for Peace – Guangzhou, China.
- From Sept 2027: Ongoing engagement through the Global Alumni Network.
