Target Audience:
Community philanthropy organizations, community foundations, women’s funds, environmental funds, national public foundations, grassroots grantmakers, or any organization identifying with the concept and practice of community philanthropy, especially in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, or Latin America and the Caribbean.
Opportunity Summary:
The Global Fund for Community Foundations (GFCF) provides small grants to stimulate and support the development of community philanthropy organizations worldwide. Grants focus on strengthening organizations’ ability to address complex community issues, enhance sustainability and effectiveness, foster local giving, and build trust and networks within communities. Eligible organizations are those empowering communities, shifting power and resources to the grassroots, and piloting new strategies in governance, resource mobilization, or community participation.
Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a community philanthropy organization, community foundation, women’s or environmental fund, national public foundation, grassroots grantmaker, or similar entity.

Serve a specific community (geographic, issue, or identity-based).

Use grantmaking as a strategy to devolve power and resources to the community.

Work to build a local culture of giving and community participation.

Based in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, or Latin America and the Caribbean (priority for countries with limited funding opportunities).
Benefits:

Grants typically range from US$7,000 to US$20,000 for one year (renewal possible).

Participation in learning networks or grantee convenings may be required.
