Graduate students and faculty members at accredited universities worldwide seeking funding to host in-person or online academic events such as research workshops or academic conferences.
Opportunity Summary:
The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) offers grants to support academic events focusing on humanities and social sciences research within the broad liberal tradition. Supported events include multi-paper workshops, book manuscript workshops, and academic conferences, with honoraria for participants and reviewers. Grant recipients gain exclusive access to the IHS Digital Community to help run successful events.
Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be graduate students or faculty at accredited universities.

Events must be rigorously academic and represent diverse views within the liberal tradition.

Preference for events that lead to at least one publishable outcome.

Undergraduate events and book clubs are not eligible.

Grants cannot cover institutional overhead or indirect costs.
Benefits:

Grants up to $5,000 to support academic events.

Honoraria of $500 for paper-length manuscripts.

Honoraria of $750 for book-length manuscripts.
